Academic Intervention/Project Success

Academic Intervention

The COMPASS Center serves as the main hub for early support and intervention, helping students stay on track toward their academic and personal goals. NC Wesleyan uses an Early Alert system through my.ncwu.edu that allows faculty and staff to report concerns when students may be facing academic, social, or emotional challenges. When an alert is submitted, COMPASS staff quickly connects the student with the right campus resources so they can reflect on challenges, explore solutions, and develop strategies that support their academic progress and personal growth.

Project Success: Your Pathway to Achievement

Project Success is a student-centered program at ÐßÐßÊÓƵ that helps students get back on track academically while building the skills they need for long-term success. The program supports first-semester students who are placed on Academic Warning or Academic Probation by providing guidance, accountability, and structured support throughout the semester.

Through personalized coaching, mentoring, and skill-building workshops, students learn how to strengthen their study habits, manage their time, and take ownership of their academic progress. Students create an Academic Success Action Plan that helps them reflect on their strengths, set goals, and develop strategies to improve their performance.

Project Success also encourages students to think about how their academic choices connect to their future careers and life goals. Through regular meetings with coaches and faculty, academic support sessions, and reflection activities, students practice new strategies, build confidence, and develop resilience when facing challenges.

Participation in Project Success is required for students on Academic Warning or Probation to remain eligible for registration and financial aid. By actively engaging in the program, students work toward returning to good academic standing while building the habits, self-awareness, and motivation needed to succeed at Wesleyan and beyond.

Academic Probation
